Avoid yellow or white clothes if you are working in the garden. Insects like these colours and wasps in particular will be more attracted to these shades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do wear red clothing though if you are tending to your garden. The vast majority of insects have difficulty seeing the colour red so it’s a good ‘shield’ to use against wasps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you suspect you have a colony of wasps living close to your home don’t wear strong perfumes, aftershaves or products that act as enticements to wasps, they are naturally attracted to certain fragrances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do stay fragrance free to avoid the chances of getting stung over the late summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If a wasp comes near you try to stay as calm as you can, there’s no need to overreact, try not to panic as this might antagonise the insect. Under no circumstances attempt to swat or swash the wasp, it’ll either sting you or the dead body will release a natural chemical which sends an alarm to other wasps encouraging them to attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do try to ignore the wasp where possible. It’ll investigate a bit then fly away if you leave it undisturbed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wasps are attracted to sugary foods so don’t leave food out in the open or you could attract a few insects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do seal produce away within airtight containers, it’ll keep food fresh and prevent sending wasps into a state of frenzy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s a bit scary if a wasp enters your car but the last thing you should do is panic. Start swatting away and this will only anger the wasp and it could result in a sting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do find a safe place to pull over where possible. Open windows and doors and let the insect fly away naturally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
